TheFlyThatGotLost

By: Mirik Snir illustrations: Moshik Lin

“A fly alights upon my nose,

if I sneeze away it goes!”

A persistent fly keeps coming back – to alight on a hand, a knee, the toddler who keeps swatting it away. So why, when the fly decides to leave, is the child disappointed? In lighthearted, cadenced rhyme toddlers learn the names of body parts, encounter a range of emotions, and consider things that we find pleasant and those that we find less so.

Age Group: INFANTS

The Fly That Won’t Go Away
What can we learn from an encounter with a tiny fly? Much like the main character in this book, toddlers are also discovering things about themselves and their surroundings: They see, hear, and feel the fly, knowing what they like and dislike, and finding ways of coping with the new situation. Through each encounter, even with a fly, toddlers discover a surprising new world, learn to get to know their own abilities, and realize that they cannot control everything.
