The Most Magnificent Thing

By: Ashley Spires illustrations: Ashley Spires

Trying and failing is frustrating. But the girl in this story doesn’t give up. She repeatedly tries to build the most amazing thing she can imagine, even when her chances of success are very small. A creative and sensitive story about determination, hard work, cheerfulness, and the gap between vision and reality.

Age Group: SECOND GRADE

A child and her helper are trying to build the most magnificent thing imaginable. But imagination and reality are two very different things, and the road to building the most significant thing is not easy. It involves planning, trial and error, lots of frustration, anger, and repeated attempts. And just like in real life, the two of them discover that even when something isn’t perfect, it can still be magnificent!

Only the one who does not question, is safe from making a mistake
