The Shalkat

By: Yoram Ever Hadani • Illustrations: Naama Golomb

“And the Shalkat felt great, because his leaf was the brownest on the entire tree”. The Shalkat has a single leaf on the tree that belongs to him alone and makes him extremely happy. Even when it changes color, dries up, and is carried away by the wind, the Shalkat always looks on the bright side, teaching us about optimism and seeing the good in everything.

Age Group: Preschool (4-6)

Falleaves cultivates his leaf and observes its change until it falls off. With every change he feels wonderful. Just like in nature, there is also a cycle in life: fFrom one year to the next, from childhood to old age. The falling of leaves is a symbol of ending and farewell, but also of renewal. Falleaves is a philosophical book that invites us to accept the changes in our life, to agree to love and let go, to observe and see the good.

He has made everything beautiful in its time
(Ecclesiastes 3, 11)
