Emily Saw a Door

By: Mel Rosenberg-Nevo • Illustrations: Orit Magia Schwalb

Emily knocks on doors and asks to come in, but each door has entry requirements: Only the blue may enter, or the tall, or the quiet. How will Emily find a door that will let her in? How will Emily find just the right fit for her? This is a wonderful book about a search for identity and our ability to shape our own lives.

Age Group: Second Grade

Emily knocks on different and varied doors and asks to come in, but encounters conditions and limitations. Eventually, she creates the door that suits her, and opens it widely. Emily’s imagined journey is a journey traveled by both children and adults. The search for a place in the world and for a sense of belonging can be challenging, but it also opens the door to self-discovery, initiative, self-expression and personal choice.
