Sharing
You can look at the illustrations and discuss the difficulty and reward associated with giving: What does the rabbit look like when he voluntarily shares his seeds? What is his facial expression when the wind “takes” them from him? In your opinion, how would someone feel while sharing something they care about with us? Is there anything that you find hard to share with others?
Giving out bags of love
This book can inspire you to prepare bags of love together, and fill them with whatever makes you happy: Cookies you’ve baked together, hand-drawn greeting cards, or even some seeds collected from fruits or plants. Now you can embark on a journey of giving, and surprise your loved ones.
Our Path of Giving
You can visualize your path of giving together: Will it be long or short? Winding or straight? Which colors would you pick for it? You can draw this path using cotton swabs dipped in paint, follow the dots in the illustrations, and create a variety of colorful flowers “in a glorious mess”.
Let’s Go Outside and Observe
You can go for a walk near your home and examine the environmental changes brought about by the weather. Perhaps flowers are in bloom? Or maybe leaves are falling? You can choose one spot and take pictures of it in different seasons, looking for the changes in nature captured in the photographs.
Discussion
One could collect leaves, seashells, stones, napkins, marbles, dolls, or even… words. Do you, parents, also have similar collections, or had them when you were younger? You are more than welcome to tell your child about them, and invite them to take a look around them to see what else they could collect. You could start working on a brand new, joint collection right now!
My treasures
A tin box, kettle, crate or shoebox could each become a home for beloved items. You could decorate your container of choice with newspaper cuttings, buttons, leaves, seashells, colorful sand, or any other suitable material that you may find at home or outdoors. Are you done? Is your container ready? Now’s the time to fill it up with treasures.
Looking for similarities
One leaf looks like a feather, some stones look like eggs, and what shape is a pinecone? You may enjoy collecting leaves, stones, pinecones, or anything else you find around you, and… play: Take turns picking an item, and having the other players name objects to which it is similar.
What's new around you?
What’s new in your surroundings? Perhaps you could go outside and take a fresh look at the environment: Which animals will you come across? What colors and shapes are the leaves? What is happening up above in the sky, or down below on the ground? You may enjoy creating your own path, take a walk on it from time to time, and check what has remained the same, and what has changed.

Reading the illustrations
You may enjoy sitting comfortably, looking at the tender illustrations, and identifying the various ways in which Bear helps his friends. Perhaps you could ask your child to tell you the story by the sequence of illustrations, or imagine what story Bear was going to tell his friends before winter came along. You may also enjoy inventing another Bear story, and illustrating it together.
Acting the story out
You could act the story out using puppets and stuffed animals. Invite the rest of your family to watch the play!
Mutual help
Bear is a good friend, who realizes what his friends need, and helps them. You may want to remind one another how you have helped each other throughout the day. You could choose a family member, neighbor or kindergarten friend, and think together about something they may need a hand with, and how to lend it to them.
Oops, I forgot…
Have you ever forgotten what you wanted to say? You could play charades together. Try to remind one another of shared experiences using familiar songs, hand gestures, or drawings.
Help your toys get ready for winter
You may want to allocate a corner of your child’s bedroom to serve as a winter corner for their stuffed animals. Perhaps you would enjoy using pillows and blankets to make burrows or caves for comfy, cozy hibernation.
What's the story?
Bear turns his experience into a story to tell his friends. You may enjoy making a little book together entitled The Day we have had, and fill it with drawings of the experiences you had today. You could read the book together before bedtime.
Just one more story
Is your child always asking for one more story during bedtime? You could place a small box or basket by their bed, containing some of their favorite books, for your child to look at on their own after saying good night. You may want to go through the basket every once in a while, and select new books with which to fill it together.
Winter is coming
You may enjoy taking a walk in your neighborhood together, collecting colorful fallen leaves, and making prints out of them: place a piece of paper over a leaf, and color over it using red, orange and brown crayons. Hang your leaf prints around the house.
