It is not easy being the last rain, known in Hebrew as Malkosh. Unlike the first rain, Yoreh, no special blessing is recited over the final rain, simply because you cannot tell in real-time that it is indeed the last one. In this book, Malkosh tries to make itself known, but no one understands. And yet, it refuses to give up. Its perspective teaches us about determination, acceptance, and self-love.
Age Group: Preschool (4-6)
Is there any way of knowing when the last rain will come? The last rain of the year is trying to get noticed, but like the first rain, no one seems to be paying attention. The last rain is jealous and disappointed, until it learns to acknowledge its uniqueness, and realizes that it alone is the master of its own fate and does not need others’ affirmation.
“Each of us should cherish his or her own special talent”
